About Us

Marilena was born in 1946 in Canneto, Lipari - a beautiful island in Southern Italy.  Her family migrated to Australia in the 1950’s where they lived in NSW before settling in Brisbane, Queensland.

As the eldest daughter of nine children, Marilena was a key part of the family unit, helping her parents with the younger children.  As a result, Marilena became a fabulous cook and continued to cook up a storm after she was married with children of her own.

One of Marilena’s specialties in the kitchen was Almond Bread – it was always a hit with both family and friends with everyone continually coming back for more!  So in 2006 a family business was established so that this wonderful treat could be shared with others. 

Marilena now bakes her famous Nut Bread in five flavours—Almond, Cashew, Macadamia, Pistachio and Hazelnut.  This range of Nut Breads were awarded ‘Best New Bakery Product’ at Fine Food Australia 2009.  Mamma Marilena now produces four Fruit and Nut varieties that are equally addictive—Almond & Cranberry, Macadamia & Apricot, Fruit & Nut and Pistachio & Cranberry.
